Aquarium water pump
The water pump, the heart of your aquarium’s circulation
Standing water loses oxygen and lets debris settle. A water pump keeps your aquarium moving: it drives circulation, stirs the tank and lifts water up to the filter. At AnimalParadise, we select reliable, quiet pumps for every tank size.
What is the difference between a water pump and an air pump?
A water pump moves the water itself: it creates a current, stirs the tank and pushes water toward the filter. An air pump only sends air to a diffuser. To filter and circulate, a water pump is exactly what you need.
How do I choose the right flow rate for my tank?
Aim for an hourly flow of two to four times the tank volume. A 100-litre tank therefore needs a pump rated at 200 to 400 litres per hour. Adjustable models let you fine-tune the current to suit your fish and plants.
Our range of water pumps
- Circulation pumps : they create a steady current that oxygenates the water and prevents dead spots.
- Lift pumps : designed to raise water toward the filter or waterfall with a constant flow.
- Adjustable, quiet pumps : a variable flow and discreet operation, ideal in a living room.
The AnimalParadise expert tip: angle the pump outlet slightly toward the surface to create a gentle ripple: you boost gas exchange without stressing your fish.
