Transport
Transporting your reptiles safely
Vet visit, moving house or a new arrival: moving a reptile or amphibian calls for a safe, well-ventilated container. Poorly planned transport stresses the animal and can chill it. At AnimalParadise we offer ventilated, sturdy boxes and tubs that are easy to secure.
How do I choose a suitable transport box?
Go for an opaque or semi-opaque tub, well ventilated but with no opening the animal could escape through. It should be just large enough to limit sliding, with a reliable latch. Too large a box increases jolting; too small compresses the animal.
How do I keep the temperature stable during the journey?
As reptiles are ectotherms, cold quickly puts them at risk. Line the box with paper or fabric, add a wrapped heat pack if needed to avoid direct contact, and keep the trip short. Avoid direct sunlight and draughts, and carry the animal away from light to calm it.

The AnimalParadise expert tip: always place a layer of moist substrate or absorbent paper at the bottom of the box: it cushions shocks and absorbs droppings during transport.
