Guppy food

Fine feeding for your guppies and small livebearers

Guppies, mollies, platies and swordtails are lively livebearers with tiny mouths, unable to swallow large particles. They need finely calibrated food, rich in protein and pigments, also suited to their many fry. AnimalParadise brings together micro-pellets and fine flakes designed for these small, prolific fish.

What particle size suits a guppy?

Since the guppy has a very small mouth, it needs micro-pellets or finely crumbled flakes it can snap up effortlessly. Particles that are too big are ignored and pollute the tank: favour fine pieces that float then sink slowly through the water column.

How do I feed livebearer fry?

Fry are born fully formed but tiny and grow fast when well fed. Offer a rearing powder or brine shrimp nauplii several times a day, in very small amounts, to support their growth without spoiling the water quality of the grow-out tank.

Our range for guppies and livebearers

  • Micro-pellets : a fine grade ideal for the small mouths of guppies, mollies and platies.
  • Crumbled flakes : easy to snap up at the surface, enriched with pigments for colour.
  • Fry food : powders and nauplii for the growth of young livebearers.
The AnimalParadise expert tip: crumble the flakes finely between your fingers before feeding: the smaller the particle, the more easily your guppies and their fry accept it and grow steadily.
