Aquarium air pump
The air pump, the oxygen that lets your aquarium breathe
A well-stocked aquarium uses a lot of oxygen, especially at night and in hot weather. The air pump sends a constant stream of air to your diffusers: it aerates and oxygenates the water continuously. At AnimalParadise, we offer discreet, sturdy air pumps.
Why do I need an air pump if I already have a water pump?
A water pump circulates the water and feeds the filter, but it does not necessarily add oxygen. An air pump injects air: paired with an air stone, it increases oxygenation, which is essential during heat, overstocking or medical treatment.
How do I choose the power of my air pump?
Match the air output to the tank volume and depth: the deeper the water, the more powerful the pump must be to overcome the pressure. Dual-outlet models feed several diffusers and can be adjusted with a valve.
Our range of air pumps
- Single air pumps : a steady output to feed one bubbler and oxygenate small and medium volumes.
- Dual-outlet pumps : they split the air toward several diffusers or several tanks.
- Quiet diaphragm pumps : continuous aeration with a very low noise level, ideal at night.
The AnimalParadise expert tip: place the air pump higher than the water level, or add a non-return valve: this stops water from siphoning back into the pump during a power cut.
All our air pumps ship quickly across Europe, together with AnimalParadise advice for balanced oxygenation.
