Where should I install a dog safety gate?

Pressure-fit or screw-mounted gate: which to choose?
A pressure-fit gate installs without drilling, ideal for rentals and horizontal passages. The screw-mounted version, sturdier, is recommended at the top of stairs or for a large dog that pushes. In every case, favour a gate that opens easily for adults but stays secure against the animal.
