Food
Feeding your reptiles and amphibians the right way
Diet shapes the health, growth and lifespan of your animals. Every species follows a specific diet, carnivore, herbivore or omnivore, that must be respected. At AnimalParadise we gather insects, prey, pellets and plants to cover every need in terrarium keeping.
How do I choose food according to my reptile’s diet?
First identify your species’ diet. An insectivorous snake or gecko needs live or frozen prey and insects; a herbivorous tortoise prefers plants and flowers; an omnivorous bearded dragon mixes insects and greens. Match prey size to the animal and vary the sources for balanced intake.
How often and how much should I feed?
Juveniles eat frequently, sometimes daily, while an adult is happy with two or three meals a week. Remove uneaten insects, dust food with a calcium and vitamin supplement, and monitor weight to avoid obesity or malnutrition.
