Treatment
Protect your birds from parasites and disease
Red mites and other parasites are the nightmare of backyard keepers: they weaken birds, reduce laying and spread fast in a poorly kept henhouse. AnimalParadise offers a range of treatments and hygiene products to prevent infestations, care for your animals and keep their habitat healthy for the long term.
How do I get rid of red mites in the henhouse?
The red mite hides by day in cracks and attacks hens at night. An effective treatment combines action on the animal and on the environment: diatomaceous earth powders, antiparasitic sprays and thorough disinfection of perches and corners. Repeat the treatment to break the parasite’s breeding cycle.
For the full protocol (evening test, life cycle, which product on the hens and which in the coop), read our guide: Red mites in chickens: the complete guide →
How often should I clean the henhouse?
Weekly cleaning of the bedding and a full disinfectant once or twice a month greatly limit the development of parasites and bacteria. Step up vigilance in spring and summer, the seasons when red mites multiply. Regular observation lets you act at the first signs.
Our range of treatments and hygiene
- Red mite antiparasitics : powders and sprays to eliminate parasites on birds and in the henhouse.
- Henhouse disinfectants : cleaning products to deeply sanitise perches, nest boxes and surfaces.
- Care and hygiene : first-care solutions to support the health and comfort of your animals.
The AnimalParadise expert tip: always treat the animal and its environment at the same time; acting on one without the other gives the red mite time to recolonise the henhouse.
