Scratchers and scratching posts

A scratching post to save your furniture… and keep your cat busy

Is your cat attacking the sofa or the wallpaper? It's not misbehaving: it's marking territory and maintaining its claws. A well-chosen scratching post redirects that need to the right surface.

Vertical or horizontal scratcher?

Watch your cat: if it stretches against a wall, a tall vertical model suits it; if it scratches the rug, a horizontal or angled scratcher fits better. Some cats like both.

Sisal or cardboard: which material?

Sisal is sturdy and long-lasting, ideal for energetic scratchers; corrugated cardboard is cheap and much loved by cats, but wears faster. It depends on how intense your cat is.

Our scratching posts range

  • Vertical scratchers: sisal posts to stretch up high.
  • Horizontal and angled scratchers: for cats that scratch on the floor.
  • Corner and wall scratchers: protect wall and sofa corners.
  • Cardboard scratchers: cheap and comfy, often with catnip.
  • Scratcher-toys: combine scratching and play to keep your cat busy.
The AnimalParadise expert tip: place the scratcher right next to where your cat already scratches (sofa, door frame): it will adopt it far faster than if it's tucked away in a corner.
