The classic whistle makes a sound you can hear, handy for adjusting your signal. The ultrasonic whistle produces a frequency barely audible to the human ear but clearly picked up by the dog, ideal in built-up areas. Either way, it is the consistency of the sound that matters.

How do I teach recall with a whistle ?

First pair the whistle with something positive: a short blow followed by a treat, at home and free of distraction. Once your dog comes running at every signal, gradually increase the distance and the temptations. Regularity and consistency make all the difference.
