Bird cages
Bird cages suited to every species
A well-chosen cage is the first comfort of an indoor bird. Space, safety, easy maintenance: at AnimalParadise, our cages house a canary just as well as a parakeet or a pair of lovebirds, with the equipment they need to feel at home.
What cage size should you choose for each species?
The rule is simple: the bigger the cage, the better. A bird must be able to spread its wings and flit from perch to perch without knocking into anything. A canary is happy with a medium model, while a parakeet or parrot needs height and width. Always favour horizontal space, more useful than height alone.
What bar spacing should you respect?
The bar spacing must stop the bird from pushing its head through. For small species such as canaries, allow about 1 cm; for parakeets, 1.2 to 1.5 cm; large parrots need thicker, wider-set bars. Horizontal bars also make climbing and exercise easier.
