Sturgeon Food

A sinking, carnivore diet designed for your pond sturgeon

The sturgeon is a bottom-dwelling fish with a carnivorous diet, very different from the other inhabitants of the pond. It cannot feed at the surface and digests classic plant-based foods poorly. At AnimalParadise, we offer sinking foods, rich in protein and fat, specially formulated for its needs.

Why do sturgeons need a food that sinks?

Because the sturgeon feeds exclusively at the bottom of the pond, guided by smell. Floating food is out of reach and mainly benefits the other fish. Sinking sticks and pellets drop quickly and stay stable on the bottom, within reach, without breaking up too fast.

What protein level should I choose for a pond sturgeon?

The sturgeon is a carnivore: it needs a very high-protein food (often 40 to 50%) rich in fat and based on fishmeal. These recipes cover its high energy needs and support steady growth without deficiency.

Our range of food for pond sturgeon

  • Sinking sticks : fast-sinking sticks that reach the bottom and stay stable, within the sturgeon’s direct reach.
  • High-protein formula : fishmeal-rich recipes (40 to 50% protein) to cover the needs of carnivorous fish.
  • Bottom feed : dense, slow-disintegrating pellets that preserve water quality even in deep zones.
The AnimalParadise expert tip: Feed preferably at the end of the day, when sturgeons are most active, and always place the food in the same spot so they find it easily on the bottom.

All our sturgeon foods are shipped quickly throughout Europe, so your bottom-feeding fish stay healthy and well fed.
