Bottom feeder food

Feeding the bottom fish that live at the base of the tank

Corydoras, bristlenose plecos, loaches and catfish explore the aquarium floor and mostly pick up what has sunk. Surface flakes are not enough for them: they need weighted wafers and tablets that reach the substrate where they forage. AnimalParadise offers a range of sinking foods designed for these bottom cleaners.

Why sinking wafers for bottom feeders?

Bottom feeders eat on the floor and rarely rise to the surface. Wafers and tablets that sink quickly reach the substrate, out of reach of greedy mid-water swimmers, and ensure corydoras and catfish get their share when evening comes.

Do corydoras and catfish eat the same thing?

Most corydoras are omnivores and enjoy mixed protein-rich tablets, while grazing plecos and loaches need plant-dominant wafers, often based on spirulina or algae. Check your species’ diet to choose the right sinking formula.

Our range for bottom feeders

  • Sinking wafers : weighted to reach the substrate quickly where bottom fish forage.
  • Protein tablets : for corydoras and catfish that are active omnivores at night.
  • Plant wafers : spirulina and algae based for grazing plecos and loaches.
The AnimalParadise expert tip: drop the bottom wafers just before lights out: shy and often nocturnal, bottom feeders eat more calmly once the tank is quiet.
