What box size and entry hole does my bird need?
Each species has its dimensions: a compact box with a small hole for canaries and finches, a deeper box with a wider opening for cockatiels and parakeets, a large sturdy model for parrots. An entry hole of the right diameter protects the clutch from intruders while letting the bird in easily.
Where and how should I install the nest box?
Fix it high up, in a quiet corner of the cage or aviary, sheltered from draughts and rain for an outdoor model. A hatch or removable lid makes it easy to check the clutch and clean between broods, without stressing the birds.
