Description

Vitamin C, essential for guinea pigs

Unlike most animals, the guinea pig does not produce its own vitamin C: it must be provided through the diet. A deficiency first shows as tiredness, mobility difficulties and a drop in appetite, then as more serious disorders if it persists.

Key benefits

Essential intake Meets a need the guinea pig cannot produce itself
Liquid form Give directly into the mouth or in the drinking water
Deficiency prevention Supports fitness, appetite and mobility
Convenient Compact 15 ml bottle

Daily vitamin C requirements

  • Healthy guinea pig: 20 mg/kg per day.
  • Illness, recovery, pregnancy or lactation: the need triples, i.e. 60 mg/kg per day.
AnimalParadise expert tip: vitamin C degrades quickly in light and air. If you add it to the drinking water, renew it every day. Increase the intake during illness, pregnancy or nursing. This supplement supports, without replacing, a diet rich in fresh vegetables and a vet’s advice if symptoms appear.
